Paper corea Woods in Guamdong, Gunsan is famous for egrets and common herons' breeding place and the birds' place for passing winter. According to the findings on the survey by the Gunsan Branch of Korean Association for Bird Protecting a few years ago, it is well-known that 1,000 little egrets and common herons and 3,000 black-crowned night herons live there. Especially the Geumgang Estuary Bank, the wide farm land, and Mangyeonggang River around there have very good environment for egrets and common herons living on fish and Crustacea from rice field and tidal flat. Recently a lot of common herons can be seen because the woods has been improved. Between 4 and 5 o'clock toward sundown is good for visiting the Paper corea Woods in winter, for the birds which leave the wood to search food in the daytime come back to sleep then.
