Youbudo is located in the place the Geumgang Estuary meets
the Western Sea. The small island where about 20 families
live attracts public attention because more than 95 % oystercathcers
visiting Korea pass the winter there. Oystercathcers have
the slender long red beak, the black head and back, and the
white stomach. They live in a family group in the islands
of the Western and Southern Sea, but 2,500 of them, more than
90%, pass the winter in Yubudo Island.
